PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

TC Tech/E*vanced Solutions

Indianapolis, IN

Founder/Co-Owner/CEO/Lead Designer March 2000 - Present

Assisted in the creation of a grant proposal with a local library director for developing an automatic book and event email

notification system that relied on a Windows service and web technology.

The grant was accepted and the project was completed on time and under budget.

From working on the grant and working with other libraries, a series of web-based products that reduce staff workload

while adding enhanced patron/customer services were created.

Co-presented at the 2002 Public Library Association to an audience of 400 people, 2002 Indiana Library Federation, and

2002 Small and Medium Size Libraries conferences about the grant project and other web based technologies for libraries.

Turned TC Tech into Evanced Solutions (May 2002) as founder and co-owner, which has grown to 11 employees (as of

July 2008) with over 600 software installations representing 2500+ locations world wide.

Co-authored the ALA Editions book High Tech, High Touch: Library Customer Service through Technology that provides

real life examples of using technology to improve library services for both the staff and patrons.

Work closely with a variety of libraries and colleges to grow the products and continue to add desired features with one

major release every year based on customer input.

Provide development and technical consulting services to libraries

Continue to work with customers, manage software development, and manage technical support

Horner Electric, Inc.

Indianapolis, IN

EPIC Team Leader November 1999 - December 2002

EPIC (Expedited Product Implementation Cycle)

Responsible for working closely with customers on custom, rapid design projects while expediting the design through the

development process.

Matrix Technologies, Inc.

Indianapolis, Indiana

Group Leader January 1999 – November 1999

Providing administrative and technical management for members of the group.

Provided Visual C++ support in a custom software project for Subaru by learning and implementing DCOM.

Technical lead for a successful $750,000 contract as well as a Project Leader for the largest portion of the project.

Technical lead position required solving programming/implementation issues for all 4 design teams.

Horner Electric, Inc.

Indianapolis, IN

Engineering Manager August 1997-January 1999

Key team member in the start-up of an engineering/manufacturing facility in Ireland. This required traveling to Ireland to

hiring Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware and Software engineers.

Maintain schedules and priorities for multiple projects for engineers at multiple facilities, including Indianapolis, Ireland,

and the U.K.

Marketing Strategy Team member: A planning team involved in short and long term strategic market planning and

decision making. Responsible for providing an engineering perspective and supplying engineering schedule information.

Work with other managers as a team to develop, document and implement processes.

Created a Windows based Visual C++ program for adding parts to the master parts database. The program saved time and

reduced number of errors and duplicate parts.

Electronic Engineer June 1991-August 1997

Responsible for all stages of product design from conception through to manufacturing. This includes creating schematics

using Orcad, creating software/firmware, FPGA/EPLD design, prototyping and trouble shooting.

Todd Cutler - Resume Page 2

Hardware design: Required designing schematics using Orcad, generating bills of materials, working with the PCB layout

subcontractor, sometimes soldering the components on the PCB, trouble shooting prototypes, and ultimately making sure

the design was ready for final production.

Firmware Design: Required the creation of real time embedded code using a combination of PLM, 8051or 80196 assembly

language, and/or C, depending on the processor used.

Software Design: PC based programs written in C or Visual Basic were required for creating applications such as

configuration programs used to download information from the PC into the device through the RS232 serial port.

FPGA/EPLD Design: Many of the designs required some form of a programmable logic device, such as a GAL/PAL or a

gate array, to create chip selects or more complex designs such as keypad scanners, interrupt controllers or custom device

interfaces.

Mechanical Design: Some products required modifications to existing enclosures or new metal enclosures to be designed.

AutoCAD was used to generate the necessary drawings.

PCB Layout: Some prototype and small product designs required layout and etching of circuit boards.

Product designs include: smart modules for the GE Fanuc 90-30 PLC, a variety of field bus option cards for GE Drives

inverters, operator interfaces, and a PID controller. Some of the field bus designs include Genius, Modbus/RTU and CAN.

Some of the products were designed above and beyond the responsibilities of Manufacturing Manager.

Manufacturing Manager June 1991-September 1995

Supervised all aspects of manufacturing and quality control beginning with prototype through to a standard manufacturing

process.

Scheduled, worked with assembly houses, planned in-house final assembly and 100% testing of each product.

Designed test fixtures and software to reduce testing time.
