SERBIA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION
is the oldest and the largest library association in Serbia, with more than 1000 members.
The Association is a special, professional and public organization of experts, who perform library and information activities
The Association continues the activities and tradition of previous association: Society of Library Workers of Serbia, established in 14.december 1947 in Belgrade.
Its mission is to provide librarianship and information services, leadership for the development and promotion of library and information services.
The Head office of the Association is located in Belgrade.
The aim and task of the Association is to gather and connect library staff in order to realize and protect their professional, social and financial interests.
The aim and tasks of the Association are realized trough its 25 representative offices.
The bodies of the Association are: the Assembly, Head Office, President, Secretary and Supervisory Board.
The operational bodies are the 15 commissions and 6 sections.
The Association is a member of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) since 1950.
Since 1949. the Association has published the journal for librarianship theory and practice Bibliotekar
The Association awards the annual prize ``Stojan Novakovic`` to library workers for the contribution in the field of the improvement of library and information activities.
